Base Career helps you apply smarter for this job.
You'll take strategic concepts from idea to operating reality, and then set the conditions for them to scale. Concretely:
Own discrete strategic projects end to end: sizing the opportunity, building the case, getting the decision made, and then actually standing the thing up
Work across the US energy landscape as opportunities emerge (battery deployment, powered land, retail supply, utility programs) rather than in a single fixed lane
Realize the value in M&A activity: integrating acquired businesses and capabilities, chasing down the synergies that underwrote the deal, and building the proof points that unlock the next stage of the strategy
Turn early-stage bets into repeatable operations: first deal, first site, first market, first customer cohort, then the playbook that enables scale
Partner with the OE US CFO on strategic finance and budgeting; building the plan, pressure-testing the numbers, and making sure the budget actually reflects the strategic priorities rather than last year's plus a percentage
Build the commercial and analytical foundations; unit economics, market structure, counterparty landscape
Operate on intent: you'll get the destination and the constraints, not a project plan
Strong analytical foundation from a strategy consultancy, investment bank, PE/VC, corp dev, high-growth operating role, or service background; plus a track record of doing, not just recommending.
Real fluency in a spreadsheet, and an understanding of how budgets, forecasts and business cases connect to the strategic projects underneath them.
Comfort owning outcomes with limited oversight. You'll ask for help when you need it; nobody will be checking your work weekly.
Commercial instinct for deals, integrations, and partnerships; and the discipline to track a synergy case from thesis through to the P&L.
Enough technical curiosity to get up the learning curve fast on unfamiliar ground (state-level energy retail regulations, interconnection queues, capacity markets, ISO rules, tariff design) without needing to be an expert on day one.

Values-led: passionate about decarbonization and the US energy transition
A bias for action, a high tolerance for ambiguity.
Non-traditional backgrounds encouraged to apply.
Most strategy teams produce decks, models, and market sizings, then hand them off. This role is focused on the doing. The measure of the work isn't whether the recommendation was right; it's whether the thing exists.
The US energy market is fragmented, state by state, and moving fast. The opportunity set genuinely changes quarter to quarter; battery economics, data center load growth, retail deregulation, utility program design. You’ll be asked to play across many pieces rather than a narrow subset.
We're the bleeding edge of the business. When something we've built starts working repeatedly, it gets reinforced.
Strategy and money aren't separate conversations here. You'll be in the numbers with the CFO, which means you'll see how capital gets allocated and have a hand in where it goes.
There is no handholding. You'll have unusual latitude to decide what matters and how to approach it, and correspondingly little cover if you sit still waiting for direction.
We work closely with Group leadership in the UK, because US strategic decisions have direct implications for capital allocation, structuring, and Group roadmap.
Real autonomy, real ownership, and a team that moves fast and backs each other.
A mission you can feel good about — accelerating the shift to a cheaper, greener grid.
