Role Description

  • This is a full time remote role for an Environmental Health Specialist.
  • The specialist will assess environmental and occupational health risks, analyze data, and support the development of policies and guidelines that protect community and worker health.
  • Day to day tasks include conducting research on environmental health issues, monitoring regulatory and best practice updates, and supporting environmental compliance initiatives.
  • The role also involves preparing clear reports, educational materials, and presentations tailored to youth and partner organizations.
  • The Environmental Health Specialist will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design awareness campaigns, support training sessions, and advise on Environment Health and Safety (EHS) practices in community projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Health and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) principles, including risk assessment and prevention strategies.
  • Experience with Environmental Compliance and an understanding of relevant policies, standards, or regulations.
  • Background in Occupational Health, including identification and mitigation of workplace and community health hazards.
  • Effective Communication skills, with the ability to translate technical environmental and health concepts into accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Health, Public Health, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field.
  • Experience working with NGOs, community organizations, or youth focused programs is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across virtual teams.
  • Strong analytical, report writing, and basic data interpretation skills; proficiency with standard office and communication software.
