Responsible for de-contamination, processing, assembling and sterilizing instruments and equipment. Responsible for the disinfection and restocking of Isolation, Emergency Carts and other patient care equipment. Works within the guidelines for infection control, JCAHO, OSHA and AAMI to assure sterility of supplies, to provide and maintain necessary levels. • On an on-going basis the incumbent must obtain the mandatory number of continued educational units (CEU’s) needed to maintain the currency of certification.
• Requires advanced and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of sterile processing principles.
• Requires good problem-solving techniques.
• Personal computer skill and experience is desirable but not required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak clearly using the English language.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Certification in Sterile Processing through a nationally accredited central service organization such as the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Healthcare & Sterile Processing Association (IAHCSMM) is required. (CRCST or CBSPD accepted.)
