Steel Designer

The Steel Detailer is responsible for creating detailed 3D models and shop and erection drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel based on engineering and architectural plans.

This role uses parametric modeling software to ensure fabrication and construction teams have accurate, code compliant drawings to support efficient project execution.

• Develop 3D parametric models and detailed shop drawings and erection drawings for structural steel components using detailing software such as SDS2.
• Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to produce accurate detailing.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure drawings meet project specifications.
• Verify dimensions, connections, and materials to ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (AISC, AWS, etc.).
• Incorporate revisions and red line markups into updated drawing sets and 3D models in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records of model and drawing revisions and approvals throughout the project lifecycle.
• Communicate with vendors and clients as needed to clarify detailing requirements.
• Support quality control efforts by reviewing models and drawings for accuracy before submission.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
