Role overview
The Video Performance team owns how fast Canva's video creation experience feels across browsers, mobile devices, native engines, ML systems, and backend services.
The role focuses on performance for mid-range and older devices while video capabilities and AI features continue to expand.

- The role is based in the San Francisco hub and offers flexibility in how and where employees work.
What you will do
- Own performance across template loading, media import, timeline scrubbing, real-time preview, effects, and export on web, iOS, and Android.
- Define user-relevant performance metrics and service level objectives for Video.
- Build telemetry, tracing, dashboards, alerting, regression detection, profiling tools, device labs, and automated performance suites.
- Deliver measurable improvements to latency, frame stability, memory use, and battery life.
- Work with native engine, on-device ML, editing, and backend teams to improve critical paths.
- Help Video teams treat performance as part of the product from the start.
