Design, build, and operate the production LLM systems and agents at the core of the platform.
Own architecture, reliability, and evaluation of LLM systems while setting engineering standards for the broader team.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role spanning the stack and working with product, design, AI, and customers.
LLM Systems and Agents
- Architect and build production LLM pipelines and multi-step agents with tool use, retrieval, orchestration, and memory.
- Design graceful degradation, retries, fallbacks, guardrails, and bounded failure modes.
- Improve prompting, structured outputs, validation, and grounding to reduce hallucinations.
- Optimize model cost and latency through context strategies, caching, and routing.
Evaluation and Observability
- Develop offline evaluations, regression suites, tracing, and live monitoring for quality, cost, and latency.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve complex production issues.
Platform and Application Development
- Design and operate scalable backend systems and data pipelines supporting the LLM layer.
- Ship production-ready frontend and backend features with strong attention to detail.
- Work with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to support safe and frequent releases.
Technical Leadership and Collaboration
- Establish engineering standards and patterns for LLM development across the team.
- Maintain code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation, and mentor junior and intermediate engineers.
- Partner with product and engineering peers on feasibility assessment and rapid prototyping.
- Work directly with customers when needed to optimize complex enterprise workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience.
- Track record building and maintaining complex full-stack applications.
- Hands-on experience operating LLM-powered systems in production, including pipelines, agents, advanced RAG, or similar.
- Experience owning distributed-systems architecture and raising engineering standards across a team.
Technology Stack
- Application technologies include NextJS, NestJS, and Python.
- Data technologies include PostgreSQL, vector databases, and hybrid search.
- Infrastructure includes AWS services such as ECS, S3, and RDS, along with Docker and CI/CD.
- AI technologies include LLM APIs, embedding pipelines, agent orchestration, and evaluation tooling.
Work Arrangement
- This is a Canada-based full-time permanent position with remote or hybrid options available.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary is CAD 175,000 plus competitive equity considerations after 90 days, depending on experience and impact.
- Benefits include extended health coverage and paid time off.
