About The Team
The Application Engineering team supports platforms used to deliver Sales and Customer Experience interactions.
The team works at significant scale, translates ambiguous requirements into business value, and advocates for scalable technical solutions.
The role focuses on building Salesforce solutions for Sales and Customer Experience teams.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable Apex solutions on Salesforce.
- Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code throughout development to write, review, debug, and document code.
- Oversee improvements to deployed features and measure their impact.
- Apply Salesforce architecture and change/release management best practices using Salesforce CLI for deployments.
- Write maintainable, well-documented code.
- Build, test, and debug reliable production systems at scale.
- Contribute to codebases beyond Salesforce when needed.
What We're Looking For
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 4 years developing on Salesforce with Apex.
- Salesforce Platform Developer I and/or Application Architect certification is listed for the role.
- Strong Salesforce platform architecture knowledge, Salesforce CLI experience, and change/release management expertise.
- Fluent daily use of AI coding assistants across the development lifecycle.
- Ability to write structured, maintainable, and documented code, including outside Salesforce.
- Proven experience building, testing, and debugging reliable production systems at scale.
- Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into business value and advocate for scalable solutions.
- Experience in regulated industries is preferred.
- Ruby on Rails experience is a plus.
Onboarding Travel
- Two days of travel to a Gusto office for onboarding is required.
Compensation
- Target cash compensation is $163,000-$204,000 in Denver and most remote locations.
- Target cash compensation is $197,000-$247,000 in San Francisco and New York, with stock equity additional.
- Final offer amounts depend on experience, expertise, and other factors.
Office Expectations
- Employees based in Denver, San Francisco, New York City, and Scottsdale are expected to work from the office approximately two to three days per week or more depending on the role.
- Approved work from other locations requires a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection.
