About the role
Capital One Canada is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architecture.
The role has no direct reports and focuses on technical ownership, engineering standards, and mentorship.
The software studio builds customer-facing banking products using cloud, open source, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers.
Responsibilities
- Work throughout the software development life cycle as part of a dynamic team.
- Own technical design and development for cross-functional, multi-platform, fault-tolerant application systems.
- Improve developer experience by contributing to internal frameworks and tools.
- Establish engineering best practices and code review standards.
- Define technical standards and provide support for consistent engineering practices.
- Own architecture, follow high-level design methodology, and contribute to high-level design.
- Mentor junior and intermediate associates through engineering best practices and standards.
Basic qualifications
- At least 6 years of hands-on development experience, preferably with Java, Python, Go, or another object-oriented language.
