Role Overview
Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Agent Engagement and Experience team within Enterprise Applications and Architecture.
The team builds customer experience platforms supporting customer service and compliance KYC processes.
The role anchors new projects, sets technical direction, mentors engineers, and architects distributed systems at scale.
Workplace Model
- Coinbase is a remote-first but not remote-only company.
- Employees are expected to gather quarterly for intensive in-person working sessions called surges.
What You Will Do
- Architect and deliver distributed backend systems and infrastructure components using Go, gRPC, TypeScript, and React.
- Define strategic roadmaps and translate ambiguous problems into clear architectural plans with measurable outcomes.
- Build high-reliability services for customer experience agent workflows and compliance processes.
- Own delivery from design through production deployment and mentor engineers on engineering practices.
- Partner across time zones to identify improvements, anticipate issues, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
