Staff Software Engineer – Cloud Platform (FortiSIEM)

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the FortiSOC(SIEM) Cloud Platform team in Santa Clara, US.

This role is responsible for designing, building, and operating the cloud infrastructure that powers FortiSOC Cloud deployments.

As a senior member of the platform team, you will own the automation, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of our cloud platform.

You will work across infrastructure, backend services, deployment automation, observability, and disaster recovery to ensure customers can deploy and operate FortiSOC reliably at scale.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex distributed systems and infrastructure challenges while working across the full software stack.

Design, build, and maintain cloud platform infrastructure that provisions and manages customer environments.

Develop automation for deployment, provisioning, upgrades, scaling, backup, and disaster recovery.

Build and enhance platform services written in Python and other backend technologies that orchestrate cloud resources and manage platform lifecycle.

Improve infrastructure-as-code using Terraform/OpenTofu and related automation frameworks.

Enhance monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational tooling across platform and tenant environments.

Improve platform reliability through high availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery capabilities.

Design and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and rollback mechanisms.

Troubleshoot complex production issues across cloud infrastructure, backend services, databases, networking, and deployment systems.

Partner with product, QA, SRE, and security teams to deliver secure and highly available cloud services.

Drive continuous improvements in operational efficiency, automation, and platform scalability.

Participate in production support and on-call rotation to ensure service reliability.

8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4 years in cloud platform or infrastructure engineering.

Strong Python programming skills.

with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, OpenTofu, or similar technologies.

building cloud-native services using containers and Kubernetes.

designing and operating highly available distributed systems.

Strong Linux, networking, and troubleshooting skills.

with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

Excellent problem-solving skills with a systems-thinking mindset.

Must be able to work onsite in Santa Clara, CA five days per week and collaborate effectively with local and global engineering teams.

Experience with one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, OpenStack, Azure, or Google Cloud.

The ideal candidate enjoys building reliable cloud platforms rather than individual features.

They are comfortable working across infrastructure, automation, backend services, and operations, and are passionate about improving scalability, reliability, and engineering efficiency through automation.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $179,000-$219,000.
