Staff, Software Engineer

Walmart is large organization with over 2.3 million employees and hundreds of millions of customers. All those employees and customers need applications to help them shop and work. Traffic Foundation is an organization inside Walmart Global Tech that builds smart networking infrastructure (CDNs, load balancers, proxies, DNS resolvers, etc) to make sites faster and more reliable for customers and employees.

Edge Load Balancers is a team within Traffic Foundation that focuses on operating and enhancing multiple massive clusters of WAFs, reverse proxies and load-balancers in our private and public clouds.

As an engineer in the Edge Ingress team, you will be responsible to do the following:

Lead the design, planning and implementation of WAF and Load Balancer technologies utilizing best practices of load-balancing and client security

Act as a SRE to troubleshoot operational problems at the network, host, and application levels.

Automated infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using IaC (Infrastructure-as-code) tooling

Build tooling to provide monitoring and alerting for key systems and provide automated and manual issue mitigation solutions

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or Mathematics or 5 years of applicable industry experience

A familiarity with Linux or UNIX systems engineering Interactive and scripted bash power-user skills (bash fluency) Familiarity with command line tools

Familiarity with command line tools

Experience and fluency in one of the following programming languages: Go, C/C++, Python

Experience in using one of the following configuration management technologies: Salt, Ansible

Experience in using one of the following cloud providers: Azure, Google Cloud/GCP

Experience in using Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure as code

An understanding of application layer protocols such as HTTP/S, DNS, and the basic networking protocols such as Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP

Familiarity with F5 WAF and Citrix Load Balancer solutions

Fluency in Go and Python

Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)
