What you'll do...
Walmart’s Corporate Tech Services (CTS) is a powerhouse of exceptional teams delivering world-class technology solutions that make a profound impact at every level of Walmart.
As a key part of Walmart Global Tech, our teams set the bar for operational excellence and leverage emerging technology to support millions of customers, associates, and stakeholders worldwide. Each time an associate turns on their laptop, a customer makes a purchase, a new supplier is onboarded, the company closes the books, physical and legal risk is avoided, or when we pay our associates consistently and accurately — that is CTS.
Joining CTS means embarking on a journey of limitless growth, relentless innovation, and the chance to set new industry standards that shape the future of Walmart.
What You Will Do
- Define and drive technical vision — partner with engineers, architects, and product leaders to set the technical direction for Walmart’s Legal technology ecosystem, including agentic AI workflows, automation platforms, and governance systems
- Provide technical leadership across a product domain — set engineering direction, drive architectural decisions, author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and establish standards adopted across multiple teams and org-wide
- Design and deliver at Walmart scale — architect, build, test, and deploy cutting-edge automation solutions impacting millions of associates, customers, and stakeholders
- Own non-functional requirements end-to-end — define and enforce reliability, scalability, security posture, observability (SLOs/SLAs), and cost-efficiency across the systems you architect
- Drive cross-org alignment — build consensus across Walmart engineering teams and geographies through data-driven proposals, prototypes, and structured technical communication; influence architectural decisions beyond your immediate team
- Mentor and grow Senior engineers — accelerate the development of Senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design feedback, tech talks, and hands-on pairing; raise the engineering bar across the team
- Champion engineering excellence — establish coding standards, review processes, and platform patterns that are adopted across teams; proactively identify and drive reduction of systemic technical debt
- Lead multi-quarter delivery — drive end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-team technical initiatives from ambiguous requirements through to production, unblocking dependencies and making timely decisions
- Apply sound engineering judgment — lead build vs. buy vs. reuse decisions with a clear understanding of tradeoffs and total cost of ownership
- Develop and enforce security best practices — particularly around access governance, data privacy, and secure handling of sensitive legal information
- Champion innovation — stay current with emerging technologies, especially agentic AI and LLM-based workflow automation, and drive their adoption where they deliver measurable value
- Measure and improve — define well-scoped metrics and KPIs to track product, operational, and portfolio performance; use data to inform engineering decisions
