Backend Engineering Team

The Backend Engineering team builds high-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems serving millions of users daily.

The team owns mission-critical domains including inventory, pricing, booking, payments, and customer and partner platforms.

Systems are designed for high availability, low latency, zero downtime, resilience, self-healing, and global scale.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and own scalable distributed systems and microservices within the assigned domain.
  • Lead complex features and technical initiatives from start to finish.
  • Drive system design, API design, and engineering best practices.
  • Own service scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance.
  • Identify risks and improvement opportunities and drive them to resolution.
  • Make architectural and technical trade-off decisions and own the outcomes.
  • Collaborate with adjacent teams and raise engineering standards.
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to translate needs into technical priorities.
  • Stay hands-on with coding and system design.
  • Mentor engineers and handle production issues, root-cause analysis, and improvements.

Technical Requirements

  • 8–12 years of backend engineering experience.
  • Strong experience building and owning distributed systems at scale.
  • Expertise in Java, Kotlin, Scala, or Go.
  • Strong understanding of microservices, REST APIs, system design, SQL or NoSQL databases, performance, scalability, and concurrency.
  • Strong coding and problem-solving ability.

Additional Qualifications

  • Ownership beyond assigned tasks and comfort making decisions under ambiguity.
  • Ability to communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated impact mentoring or growing engineers.
  • Experience with consumer or marketplace platforms is useful.
  • Exposure to Kafka or RabbitMQ, NoSQL databases, cloud, CI/CD, or Agile/Scrum is useful.
