Technology Stack

What You’ll Do

• Set technical direction through technical design documents, architecture reviews, and concrete backend design.
• Own backend reliability and platform health across staging, CI/CD, databases, queues, cost, and observability.
• Lead incident response and drive durable postmortems with completed action items.
• Represent the backend in cross-team planning and support cross-functional execution.
• Mentor teammates through pull request review, pairing, design guidance, testing standards, and operations practices.
• Build and evolve the backend platform so the team can ship faster and more safely.
• Bring agentic engineering practices into day-to-day team work and support effective adoption.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend experience, including meaningful Python/Django experience and at least one additional technology stack.
• Experience operating production systems on a major cloud, including scaled OLTP databases, container orchestration, queueing, and CI/CD.
• Track record of owning incidents end-to-end and following through on corrective actions.
• Ability to write technical design documents for staff-level peers and product leads.
• Ability to turn ambiguous product intent into concrete backend design.
• Strong collaboration skills with senior product, design, and ML partners.
• Pragmatic systems thinking focused on root causes.
• Hands-on experience with agentic engineering tools and workflows in production.

Nice to Have

• Experience with subscription and entitlements systems such as Stripe, RevenueCat, or mobile app billing.
• Experience leading a platform or infrastructure migration.
• Experience working with ML teams on recommendation or feed systems.

Compensation

• The stated US salary range outside California is $141,000 to $254,000 per year.
• The stated California salary range is $171,000 to $267,000 per year.
• The stated Canada salary range is $179,000 CAD to $228,500 CAD per year.
• The position is also eligible for equity ownership and benefits.

Workplace and Locations
