Project Volcano is an internal developer platform for Kong's engineering ecosystem.

The platform will provide preview environments, edge deployments, managed PostgreSQL, authentication, realtime and storage APIs.

The Staff SRE will be the founding reliability voice for this strategic platform initiative.

Define SLOs, error budgets and incident response practices for all Volcano services.
Architect multi-region Kubernetes infrastructure, networking and the data plane.
Build GitOps, CI/CD, canary deployment and preview-environment automation.
Operate multi-tenant PostgreSQL, Redis and object-storage services with strong isolation, performance and disaster recovery.
Create observability dashboards, alerts and runbooks before services go live.
Partner with engineering leadership, product engineering and security on reliability and compliance.
Mentor engineers, lead blameless postmortems and establish on-call practices.
Evaluate edge, serverless, vector database and AI-native infrastructure technologies.

BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Substantial Staff or Principal-level individual-contributor experience in SRE or platform engineering.
