Role Overview
The role leads the Managed Kubernetes Core team, one of three teams within the mk8s service.
The Core team owns the API, service control plane, cluster autoscaling, platform integrations, and Kubernetes add-ons.
Team leads are hands-on and initially begin as individual contributors before taking on managerial responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Write and review code, lead projects, and participate in on-call, incident mitigation, and post-incident analysis.
- Manage 4–8 mid-to-senior engineers through context-setting, coaching, and regular feedback.
- Maintain the technical vision for the assigned area.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager and Service Owner on product vision and plans.
- Optimize the control plane for large GPU-enabled Kubernetes clusters.
- Integrate cluster autoscaling approaches such as Karpenter.
