Job Summary

Greets and directs visitors.

Prepares and maintains medical records.

Responds to patient requests for assistance.

Provides information to patients, families, and physicians.

Provides other clerical support to nursing team as required.

Uses organizational skills to keep unit running smoothly and uses prioritization skills to meet deadlines as indicated.

Education And Work Experience

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Two years' relevant experience: Preferred
  • One year's experience in a hospital or medical office setting: Preferred

Licenses And Certifications

  • Unit Secretary training course: Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred

Department Specific License And Certifications

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Essential Functions

  • Processes orders and assists unit visitors and callers. Ascertains flow of patients admission/transfers. Assists in scheduling patient procedures and assembling patient charts. Refers patients requiring services to outside facilities.
  • Performs data collection and maintains data on an ongoing basis. Collects data and performs audits. Ascertains flow of patients admission/transfers. Assists in scheduling patient procedures. Assembles charts.
  • Participates in regulatory environmental compliance duties, clearing hallways and calling for equipment/pick-up as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
