Role overview
Senior Software Engineer opportunity on Iridium’s Gateway Development team.
Design, build, integrate, and deploy key software components within the Iridium Gateway.
Develop complex backend software for telecommunications-grade, mission-critical systems.
What you’ll do
- Design and develop software emphasizing quality, performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Triage, diagnose, and fix issues in deployed software.
- Work with the team to resolve outages and issues, including approximately 1–3 incidents per quarter outside normal business hours.
- Follow modern development practices and participate fully in the software development lifecycle.
- Assess complex situations, diagnose issues, and propose well-reasoned solutions.
- Identify risks early and drive mitigation strategies.
- Support knowledge transfer, cross-training, and mentoring of early-career professionals.
- Support the team during high-pressure or time-sensitive periods.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer systems engineering, or a related engineering field.
- At least 8 years of experience building software for telecommunications or other mission-critical systems.
