Sr. Server Engineer

Role Overview

Compensation and Schedule

• The position is full-time and salaried with a day shift.
• The pay range is $121,749 to $171,970 per year for work in New Jersey.
• The role includes mandatory on-call participation and may require after-hours maintenance and emergency response.

Typical Responsibilities

• Monitor problem ticket queues and resolve tickets within defined service levels.
• Participate in monthly security patching and update Windows operating systems.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues and act as an escalation point for support teams.
• Perform VMware upgrades, hotfixes, and security remediations.
• Execute runbooks for disaster recovery, system decommissions, infrastructure installations and upgrades, and application patching.
• Monitor infrastructure, create technical documentation and workflows, and follow change management procedures.
• Participate in meetings, project calls, troubleshooting calls, and assigned projects.
• Support Azure, AWS, and hybrid cloud services through provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, access coordination, and operations.

Technical Skills

• Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Linux or Unix, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Experience with VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Citrix, converged, and hyper-converged computing environments.
• Working knowledge of Azure, AWS, hybrid cloud architecture, identity and access management, monitoring, security controls, and cost-aware operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot server, cloud, virtualization, storage, application, and network issues using logs and performance data.
• Proficiency with PowerShell or related scripting and automation technologies.
• Knowledge of enterprise storage, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and data protection concepts.
• Understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability remediation, privileged access, patch management, change control, and compliance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• A certification or equivalent may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
• At least eight years of progressive information technology experience are required.
• Required experience includes enterprise servers, Windows Server, virtualization, datacenter hardware, storage, monitoring, patching, change management, documentation, automation, and incident troubleshooting.
• Experience participating in 24x7 on-call support for mission-critical computing environments is required.
• The role requires strong communication, collaboration, prioritization, mentoring, and customer service abilities.

Preferred Experience

• Preferred experience includes Windows Server and desktop, Linux or Unix, VMware vSphere and Horizon, Citrix, networking, PowerShell, converged and hyper-converged platforms, cloud computing, and data protection platforms such as NetBackup or Cohesity.
• Cloud platform experience may include AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
