Position Overview

EDC is seeking a Senior Reporting Analyst for a 15-month contract within its Data Transformation Initiative team.

The role supports migration and modernization of legacy Cognos reports to Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.

The position works with business users, data teams, technology partners, and report owners to deliver governed, performant, usable, and supportable reporting.

Compensation

  • The stated compensation range is $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

Workplace and Location

  • EDC operates under a hybrid work model requiring employees to work from the office two days per week, increasing to three days per week beginning in September 2026 through a phased approach.
  • The role may be performed from EDC headquarters in Ottawa or community hubs in Montreal, Toronto, Mississauga, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, or Halifax.

What You Will Do

  • Analyze Cognos reporting assets and usage patterns to determine migration scope and complexity.
  • Confirm reporting requirements and identify opportunities for consolidation, redesign, or retirement.
  • Document report logic, sources, mappings, layouts, dependencies, and business rules.
  • Develop Power BI reports, dashboards, paginated reports, and semantic models.
  • Transform and validate data using SQL, Power Query, DAX, and approved enterprise sources.
  • Support testing, reconcile Cognos and Power BI results, investigate variances, and document outcomes.
  • Collaborate with data, architecture, governance, and platform teams on security, performance, and target architecture alignment.
  • Prepare inventories, technical documentation, user guidance, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Support planning, backlog refinement, prioritization, status reporting, issue tracking, deployment, and transition to support.

Required Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least 7 years of business intelligence, reporting, or analytics experience on enterprise analytics platforms is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI report development, semantic models, and paginated reports is required.
  • Experience analyzing or migrating IBM Cognos Analytics reports to Power BI is required.
  • Strong SQL and relational or enterprise data platform experience is required.
  • Experience gathering requirements, documenting logic, validating results, testing reports, resolving defects, and obtaining stakeholder sign-off is required.

Assets

  • Experience in financial services, insurance, banking, Crown corporations, or regulated reporting environments is an asset.
  • Data governance, metadata, lineage, report inventory, and controlled retirement experience is an asset.
  • Agile delivery, Azure DevOps, backlog management, and iterative report development experience is an asset.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
