As a Senior Project Engineer / Technical Director – Transportation (Highways and Roads) , you will drive the success of complex highway, roadway, and active transportation projects, while providing technical leadership, mentoring staff, supporting client relationships, and helping grow GHD's transportation practice in Northern California and the US West.

Who are we looking for?

GHD's US West Region seeks an accomplished Senior Project Engineer / Technical Director to support and grow our transportation practice from our Eureka, California office.

We are seeking a senior transportation professional with a strong background in roadway design, PS&E development, project delivery, and technical leadership for projects serving Caltrans, counties, cities, and other public agencies throughout Northern California.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership on a wide variety of transportation projects including highways, local roadways, complete streets, intersections, interchanges, active transportation facilities, roadway rehabilitation, corridor improvements, and federally funded transportation programs.

This individual will serve as a technical resource, mentor staff, lead project delivery, and act as Engineer of Record and Responsible Engineer on complex transportation projects.

This position will be located in our Redding, CA office .

Certain projects may require significant time working from client offices, project offices, or field locations as part of integrated project teams supporting the delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects.

• Technical Leadership & Project Delivery Serve as a senior technical lead, Engineer of Record, Responsible Engineer, or Engineer in Responsible Charge on transportation projects. Serve in responsible charge for the development and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects and provide technical oversight throughout planning, design, and construction. Lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, design, and delivery of roadway, highway, intersection, interchange, complete streets, active transportation, roadway rehabilitation, corridor improvement, and multimodal transportation projects. Provide technical oversight and guidance for roadway geometrics, drainage coordination, traffic handling, complete streets design, ADA improvements, and PS&E development. Oversee preparation and review of plans, specifications, estimates, technical reports, and engineering studies. Ensure compliance with Caltrans, FHWA, AASHTO, MUTCD, and local agency requirements. Champion technical excellence, quality management, and risk-based decision-making throughout project delivery.
