Role overview

Lead software engineering and people management within Capital One’s technology organization.

Build full-stack and distributed microservices solutions for risk management and regulatory needs.

Work in a collaborative, iterative environment focused on solving complex business problems.

What you’ll do

  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers.
  • Build distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
  • Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions.
  • Use programming languages, databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services.
  • Stay current with technology trends and participate in technology communities.
  • Mentor engineering community members and code or evaluate code when needed.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 6 years of software engineering experience, excluding internship experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing.
  • At least 4 years of people management experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • At least 9 years of experience in JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.
  • At least 3 years of experience with a major cloud service.
  • At least 4 years of experience with open source frameworks.
  • At least 7 years of people management experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Agile practices.
  • Experience using interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion.

Compensation

  • The New York, NY annual salary range is $250,800 to $286,200.
  • The role may include performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses or long-term incentives.
