Sr Eng - Design Trans/Civil

Provides comprehensive civil/structural engineering design services for substation and/or transmission facilities, and to ensure that these facilities are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations.

• For substation and transmission projects: Provides civil engineering expertise to develop substation/civil plans for sitework including grading, off-site improvements, drainage facilities, fencing and block walls, and landscaping. In addition, completes calculations and prepares designs for substation steel structures, foundations, and control enclosures. Provides civil engineering expertise to transmission line engineering analysis, route analysis and selection, calculations for line design (includes structure loading, foundation design and conductor sag), specifies materials and evaluates bid documents and technical submittals, and completes the construction package. Acquires all necessary construction approvals and permits from the authority having jurisdiction. Develops economical, technically feasible, reliable transmission and substation civil/structural designs with minimal supervision and guidance. Selects and widely applies engineering principles, theories and concepts in the design of transmission, and substation civil projects. Independently scopes, routes, and sites substation and transmission line projects and evaluates alternatives in order to find best value. Provides, mentoring, leadership, training and direction to fellow staff members, and provides technical design and project peer review. Provides accurate cost estimates and schedule input for use in company budgeting procedures such that cash flow requirements are identified. Evaluates, benchmarks, and make recommendations for the creation and improvements of substation and transmission standards and specifications. Performs studies, prepares and provides written and oral reports to management and internal and external customers. Coordinates and interacts professionally with internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure a successful project.
