About the Role

- Conduct dimensional inspections of BIW components such as stamped parts and minor sub assemblies and assemblies using various measurement tools and equipment (e.g., CMM, Laser Trackers, Inline Measurement Systems, Calipers, Micrometers and others)
- Define and implement corrective actions to reduce defects and improve process capability
- Document inspection results and generate detailed summaries
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality, to resolve dimensional issues
- Use GD&T principles to interpret drawings and specifications
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes
- Create or modify CMM programs (commonly using software like PC DMIS, Calypso, or PolyWorks) to automate part inspections
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards in all inspection activities
- Compare actual data to CAD models or drawings and highlight deviations
- Ensure traceability of measurement results for audits or reviews
Requirements
- Technical associate degree (automotive manufacturing preferred)
- Minimum of 4–6 years of relevant experience
- Experience in dimensional inspection or quality control, preferably in automotive industry
- Basic knowledge of using measurement tools and equipment
- Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
- Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and quality control methodologies
- Familiarity with BIW processes and components is a plus
- Basic Microsoft Office knowledge (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

Position Overview
- The Sr. Dimensional Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the dimensional accuracy and quality of BIW components and assemblies by performing precise measurements, analysis, and data driven adjustments, while supporting production stability and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct dimensional inspections of BIW components such as stamped parts and minor sub assemblies and assemblies using various measurement tools and equipment (e.g., CMM, Laser Trackers, Inline Measurement Systems, Calipers, Micrometers and others).

Skills
- Ability to work at the pace required while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time during the repair of a vehicle.
- Must be able to walk, sit, bend, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or crawl frequently.
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Able to follow instructions in English, both written and verbal.
- Available to work overtime, off shifts or weekends, as needed.
- Strong understanding of BIW tooling, fixtures, automation, joining and SPC, processes.
- Familiarity with CAD tools, MES systems, and plant floor digital manufacturing platforms.
- Understanding of GD&T, DFM/DFA, quality tools like (G8D, 5why analysis, and automotive quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and within cross functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical associate degree (automotive manufacturing preferred).
- Experience in dimensional inspection or quality control, preferably in the automotive industry is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of using measurement tools and equipment.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and quality control methodologies.
- Familiarity with BIW processes and components is a plus.
- Basic Microsoft Office knowledge (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
