About the role
The engineer will ensure reliable operation of production environments for Data Infrastructure and products.
The role focuses on system reliability, routine-task automation, and production efficiency across large-scale distributed cloud systems.
The team is hiring across levels and will assess and level candidates individually based on skills and experience.
What you will be doing
- Monitor system performance, error rates, and resource utilisation with observability dashboards.
- Define dashboards and alerts and write technical runbooks for incident response.
- Respond to production alerts, mitigate issues, escalate complex problems, and conduct root cause analysis.
- Automate repetitive manual tasks.
- Create, test, and maintain automated application deployment pipelines.
- Track CPU, memory, storage, and traffic volume to support capacity forecasting and infrastructure scaling.
Technology environment
- The role uses Docker, Kubernetes, networking, and public cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
- Required technical knowledge includes Linux or Unix command-line environments and HTTP, gRPC, DNS, and TCP/IP.
- Grafana, Prometheus, Terraform, and GitHub Actions are listed as advantageous technologies.
Required skills and experience
- At least 5 years of relevant technical industry experience.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language, with Python preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and related cluster concepts.
- Strong understanding of public cloud infrastructure, with AWS preferred and GCP considered.
- Working knowledge of Linux or Unix and core web protocols.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
- BSCS or equivalent required; MSCS or equivalent strongly preferred.
