Role Overview
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant based in Vaughan, Ontario.
The role supports manufacturing cost accounting, inventory control, reporting, pricing analysis, and integration of acquired operations.
Compensation
- The stated salary range is CAD $90,000–$110,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and skills.
- A separate compensation statement lists $70,000–$100,000, creating a conflicting salary range.
- A comprehensive benefits package is offered.
Manufacturing and Cost Accounting
- Maintain standard costs, bills of materials, labor routings, and overhead rates across product lines.
- Prepare cost roll-ups, evaluate absorption, analyze manufacturing variances, and explain results to senior leadership.
- Review gross margin performance and partner with operations on cost drivers and continuous improvement.
Inventory Accounting and Control
- Conduct monthly and quarterly inventory reconciliations for raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods.
- Analyze cycle counts and physical inventories, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure inventory costing is accurately recorded across manufacturing and field service locations.
M&A Integration and Operational Support
- Support acquired-company integration by aligning costs, BOMs, margins, pricing, inventory practices, data, reporting, controls, and workflows.
- Assist with due diligence, system setup, testing, and process design for newly onboarded operations.
Close, Reporting, and Collaboration
- Complete month-end close activities involving inventory, COGS, variances, accruals, and manufacturing P&L review.
- Prepare cost accounting reports, operational KPIs, and service margin analysis.
- Work with manufacturing, procurement, sales, service, and divisional controllers on cost, margin, pricing, and profitability matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- CPA or CMA is preferred.
- Three to five years of manufacturing cost accounting experience is required.
- Strong standard costing, BOM, routing, inventory accounting, ERP, Excel, and data-analysis skills are required.
- The role requires adaptability, organization, communication, collaboration, and a hands-on approach.
