Workday HCM Functional Consultant – Roles & Responsibilities
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for Workday HCM implementations and enhancements.
• Configure and maintain Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) modules based on business requirements.
• Conduct workshops with business stakeholders to understand HR processes and recommend Workday best practices.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications and system configurations.
• Configure business processes, security roles, organizations, supervisory structures, and staffing models.
• Perform gap analysis and recommend process improvements using Workday standard functionality.
• Support Workday implementation, deployment, and post-production activities.
• Configure and maintain: Core HCM Organizations Job Profiles Positions Staffing Models Compensation Eligibility Business Processes Calculated Fields Custom Reports Notifications Workday Inbox Tasks
• Configure condition rules and validation rules.
• Create and maintain custom objects and related business process configurations.
• Design, configure, and optimize Workday business processes.
• Configure approvals, routing, notifications, and escalations.
• Review business process performance and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and HR standards.
• Configure and maintain domain and business process security policies.
• Assign and manage security groups and role-based access.
• Support security audits and compliance requirements.
• Troubleshoot security-related issues.
• Develop and maintain: Advanced Reports Matrix Reports Composite Reports Dashboards Discovery Boards
• Build calculated fields for reporting requirements.
• Analyze HR data and provide business insights.
• Support scheduled report delivery and report optimization.
• Perform data validation and data cleansing activities.
• Support data conversion and migration during implementations.
• Coordinate mass uploads using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB).
• Ensure data integrity across Workday modules.
• Prepare test scenarios and test scripts.
• Perform: Unit Testing System Integration Testing (SIT) User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Regression Testing
• Resolve functional defects and support issue tracking.
• Validate system configurations before production deployment.
• Work closely with integration teams for inbound and outbound integrations.
• Validate integration requirements with business users.
• Support testing of integrations with payroll, finance, Active Directory, benefits providers, and third-party applications.
• Assist in troubleshooting integration-related functional issues.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 functional support.
• Investigate and resolve Workday production issues.
• Monitor tenant health and business process performance.
• Support Workday bi-annual releases and feature adoption.
• Review Workday release notes.
• Analyze new features and determine business impact.
• Perform regression testing for Workday updates.
• Recommend adoption of new Workday functionality.
• Prepare Functional Design Documents (FDD).
• Develop Configuration Workbooks.
• Create Business Process Documents.
• Maintain Solution Design Documentation.
• Develop User Guides and Training Materials.
• Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, IT, Finance, and business users.
