Position: Communications Intern Schedule: Full or Part-time (20-40 hours per week, unpaid internship)
Location
Washington, DC The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join its Communications team as a Communications Intern. The intern will collaborate with CEPA’s Communications team to support external communications and enhance CEPA’s digital presence across multiple platforms. As part of this internship, you will gain skills in producing digital communications, develop an understanding of key communications tools, and learn how to effectively engage audiences on foreign policy issues. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communications, public relations, and digital media within an international policy-focused environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, digital media, and organizational skills, along with a keen interest in CEPA’s mission and focus areas. The candidate must be proactive, creative, and eager to work in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities - Assist in managing CEPA’s social media platforms, including content creation and scheduling; - Help draft and edit website content, newsletters, press releases, and other public-facing materials; - Support multimedia production, including videos, graphics, and podcasts. - Monitor media coverage and compile media reports; - Conduct research on media trends and assist with audience engagement strategies; - Provide logistical support for CEPA’s public events, including webinars, panels, and conferences; - Collaborate with the Communications team on strategic initiatives to increase CEPA’s visibility.
Qualifications
Education: - Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Public Policy); - Minimum junior or senior standing in undergraduate studies, or enrollment in a graduate program. Skills: - Strong research, analytical, and writing abilities; - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; - Proficiency in social media platforms (XTwitter, LinkedIn, Instagram) and digital tools (Hootsuite, Canva, or similar); - Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (Teams). - Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) is a plus; - Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively. Interest and Knowledge: - Demonstrated interest in CEPA’s mission and focus areas, such as European policy, tech policy, or democratic resilience; - Basic knowledge of global and regional politics, media trends, or relevant industry topics. Professional Traits: - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; - Team player with a proactive and creative approach; - Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment. Availability: - Commitment to three months, with agreed-upon hours per week, between 20-40 hours; - Ability to work in CEPA’s office or remotely, depending on role requirements.
