The Team The Smithers Resources Team is an established, collaborative team that helps ensure children and youth in care have access to safe, stable, and culturally appropriate caregiving options.
Working closely with the child protection team, Indigenous partners, caregivers, service providers, and community organizations, the team is committed to strengthening relationships and ensuring client-focused service delivery.
The team is passionate about supporting caregivers and improving outcomes for children, youth, and families while maintaining strong partnerships with Indigenous communities and service providers.
The Role As a Resource Worker, you will recruit, assess, approve, and support foster caregivers while helping children and youth access safe, stable, and culturally responsive care.
In this role you will contribute to positive outcomes for children and youth, support caregivers, strengthen Indigenous partnerships, and help develop resources that create lasting impacts for families and communities.
This position is based in Smithers and serves the Smithers and Hazelton areas.
It offers a combination of community engagement, relationship-building, service coordination, and direct support to caregivers and resource providers.
Regular travel within the service area is required.

About this Position: Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until November 1, 2027.
This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position is based in Smithers and provides services to Smithers and Hazelton.
Regular travel between the communities is required.
