Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage patients with complex visceral and gastrointestinal surgical conditions
- Perform elective and emergency visceral surgical procedures, including open and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgeries
- Evaluate patients through clinical examinations, diagnostic investigations, and multidisciplinary consultations
- Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on evidence based clinical guidelines
- Provide comprehensive pre operative assessment, intra operative management, and post operative follow up care
- Manage surgical complications and ensure timely intervention when required
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings involving gastroenterology, oncology, radiology, pathology, anesthesiology, and intensive care specialists
- Supervise junior physicians, residents, interns, and nursing staff while promoting clinical excellence and continuous learning
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality meetings, and clinical audits
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control measures, patient safety protocols, and hospital accreditation standards
- Participate in emergency call rotations and trauma services as assigned
Requirements
- Specialist qualification in General Surgery with subspecialty training in Visceral Surgery from a recognized institution
- Fellowship or equivalent certification in Visceral, Gastrointestinal, or HPB Surgery preferred
- Experience in a government hospital, tertiary care center, or accredited teaching hospital preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in open and laparoscopic visceral surgical procedures
- Experience managing complex gastrointestinal and abdominal surgical cases
- Participation in research, teaching, or clinical audits is an advantage
