Role Description

  • The Sous Chef at WZN Healthy Food is a full time, on site role based in Doha, Qatar.
  • Develop and create healthy and diet friendly menus for all sections, including: Hot Kitchen, Cold Kitchen, Pastry, Bakery, Beverages and Healthy Drinks, Snacks and Desserts.
  • Prepare and manage monthly menu plans based on nutritional requirements, seasonal ingredients, and business objectives.
  • Ensure all menu items meet company standards for quality, taste, presentation, portion control, and nutritional value.
  • Standardize recipes and monitor food costs, yields, and ingredient usage.
  • Supervise daily kitchen operations and support the Executive Chef in maintaining efficient production.
  • Train and guide kitchen staff on healthy cooking techniques, food safety, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work closely with the Dietitian to ensure meals meet nutritional guidelines and customer requirements.
  • Monitor food quality, hygiene, and compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Assist in new product development and continuous menu improvement.

Qualifications

  • Professional culinary training or equivalent experience in restaurant or catering kitchens, preferably with a focus on healthy or diet specific cuisine.
  • Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation, with attention to portion control and nutritional balance.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP practices, with a proven track record of maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen.
  • Experience supervising kitchen staff, coordinating shifts, and supporting efficient workflow in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work with meal plans and calorie counted menus, and to collaborate effectively with nutritionists or dietitians.
  • Good communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and peak service times.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, basic ordering, and minimizing food waste.
  • Previous experience in Doha or the broader Gulf region and proficiency in English; Arabic skills are an advantage.
