A Software QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring that software products meet quality standards before release.
They design and execute tests, identify bugs, and work closely with developers to improve product reliability, performance, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute
- test plans, test cases, and test scripts
- Perform
- manual and automated testing
- of applications
- Identify, document, and track
- bugs and defects
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders
- Conduct
- functional, regression, integration, and performance testing
- Ensure software meets
- business and technical requirements
- Participate in
- Agile/Scrum meetings
- (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
- Analyze test results and provide
- quality reports
- Improve testing processes and contribute to
- continuous improvement
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of
- software development life cycle (SDLC)
- and
- testing methodologies
- Experience with
- manual testing tools
- and/or
- automation tools
(e.g., Selenium, Cypress)
- Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g.,
Java, Python, JavaScript
- )
- Familiarity with
- bug tracking tools
(e.g., Jira, Bugzilla)
- Understanding of
- API testing
(Postman, REST APIs)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with
- test automation frameworks
- Knowledge of
- CI/CD pipelines
(Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Experience in
- performance testing tools
(JMeter, LoadRunner)
- ISTQB or similar QA certification
