About the Role
The Software Engineering Manager leads the engineering group building and operating a SaaS research data management and analysis platform.
The role reports to the CTO and owns technical direction, delivery, engineering quality, people leadership, and operational accountability.
The manager remains hands-on enough to guide architecture and solve difficult technical problems.
Leadership and Delivery
- Lead the development group end to end and act as the senior technical authority for day-to-day development decisions.
- Own planning, prioritization, execution, resource allocation, roadmaps, delivery risks, and commitments across the development team.
- Establish engineering processes, including Agile or hybrid practices appropriate to the team and company stage.
Architecture and AI
- Work with architecture teams to implement the technical roadmap and anticipate scaling and integration needs.
- Lead architecture for AI integration, including retrieval-augmented generation, model serving, evaluation pipelines, and responsible deployment in a research and health data context.
- Stay technically current and contribute to design, AI, critical-path work, complex problems, and production issues.
