At Finastra, we’re a global leader in financial services software, dedicated to expanding access to financial services and shaping what’s next for the industry. Our technology powers mission‑critical solutions across Lending, Payments and Universal Banking, supporting over 7,000 customers, including 80% of the world’s top 50 banks, in more than 110 countries.

Role Overview

As an Software Engineer, you will be part of a team building core infrastructure components and microservice foundations used across multiple products. This is an entry-level role focused on learning, hands-on development, and gradually building expertise in Java, distributed systems, and cloud-native platforms.

A key part of the role is using Generative AI as a productivity tool in your daily work, while gaining exposure to how AI-enabled capabilities are built into the platform.

What You’ll Work On

Assist in developing and maintaining microservices running on Kubernetes under guidance from senior engineers.

Contribute to infrastructure components such as shared libraries, service frameworks, and basic security and authentication flows.

Support development of platform services like API Gateway integrations, messaging adapters, auditing, and caching layers.

Learn and contribute to GenAI-enabled capabilities such as AI-assisted services and integrations with LLM-based systems.

Use GenAI tools (e.g., coding assistants) to improve development speed, debugging, and learning.

Participate in design discussions and help translate requirements into simple, maintainable implementations.

Write clean, testable Java code and build basic unit tests using JUnit.

Debug issues with guidance and support, and learn troubleshooting techniques in distributed systems.

Collaborate with team members to follow platform standards, patterns, and best practices.

Assist in CI/CD processes, basic DevOps tasks, and monitoring setup.

Tech Stack You’ll Use

Java, Spring Boot (basic to intermediate level)

Docker, Kubernetes (learning and hands-on exposure)

Azure or cloud platforms (basic usage)

Databases (e.g., Oracle) and messaging systems (Kafka, MQ)

Logging and monitoring tools (e.g., ELK, Prometheus)

Security basics, API gateways

GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar

What You Bring

2–5 years of experience in software development (including internships or academic projects).

Basic knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming.

Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar frameworks (coursework or hands-on projects).

Understanding of fundamental concepts: APIs, REST, databases, and basic system design.

Exposure to microservices, containers, or cloud environments is a plus (not mandatory).

Interest in distributed systems and backend infrastructure.

Basic understanding or curiosity about Generative AI tools and their use in development.

Willingness to learn how GenAI-based systems (e.g., LLM integrations) are built.

Strong learning mindset, curiosity, and ability to take feedback.

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work collaboratively and follow guidance from senior engineers.

Why This Role Is Interesting

You’ll work on real platform components, not just isolated features.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in modern backend technologies and cloud-native systems.

You’ll learn how large-scale distributed systems are built and operated.

You’ll get early exposure to GenAI tools and AI-enabled platform capabilities.

You’ll grow into a strong backend/infrastructure engineer with mentorship and guidance.
