The platform provides voice mock interviews, QA and SDET practice questions, AI feedback, leaderboards, and verifiable STAR certificates.
The engineering team ships directly to production and emphasizes ownership, autonomy, and testing craft.
Role Description
The company is hiring one Software Engineer in Test to own quality across the ShapeMyInterview platform.
The role builds an automated safety net for a production product used by candidates preparing for interviews.
The SDET works directly with the founder on release quality and testing strategy.
Core Testing Work
- Design and scale Playwright end-to-end automation across the React frontend and Node.js/Express backend.
- Own GitHub Actions CI/CD test gates and define what qualifies as a green release.
- Write API tests for Express and PostgreSQL services covering payments, leaderboards, quotas, AI interviews, and authentication.
- Build infrastructure for billing, AI voice sessions, leaderboards, quota enforcement, and email and certificate pipelines.
- Design regression suites for critical user journeys including signup, practice submission, AI interviews, subscriptions, and certificates.
Quality and Developer Experience
- Triage production incidents in Sentry, reproduce reported bugs, and own fix verification.
- Evolve page-object patterns, test data factories, seed scripts, contract tests, and visual regression testing.
- Contribute to full-stack code reviews and own testing developer experience, including fast feedback and stable suites.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Have 3+ years of hands-on production experience as an SDET or Software Engineer in Test.
- Have strong computer science fundamentals covering data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Have deep proficiency in Java or JavaScript/TypeScript and write production-grade code.
- Have Playwright experience, or Cypress or Selenium experience with a plan to move to Playwright, maintaining end-to-end suites at scale.
- Have API testing expertise using REST-Assured, Playwright API, Postman/Newman, or Supertest.
- Understand object-oriented programming, maintainable test framework design, CI/CD, Git, SQL, and bug reproduction.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Payment flow testing experience with Razorpay, Stripe, or similar systems is advantageous.
- Experience testing AI or LLM features, modern React applications, Docker, cloud platforms, email notifications, contract testing, or visual regression is advantageous.
- Open-source contributions, technical writing, community presence, startup experience, or experience as a first dedicated quality hire are advantageous.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
Location and Employment
- The role is remote and open to strong candidates across time zones, with India preferred.
- The employment type is full-time.
