Software Engineer III - Developer Platform

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - 5+ years of experience in software engineering or DevOps engineering. - Hands-on experience with continuous integration and delivery tools such as GitHub Actions. - Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure. - Experience with container technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. - Proficiency in Python and experience with automation tools such as Ansible. - Strong understanding of version control systems such as Git and modern Development practices including GitOps. - Experience with observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

• Strong TypeScript experience
• React expertise (Backstage frontend plugin development is React-heavy)
• Experience building internal tooling UX/workflows Backend
• Node.js / Express experience
• Experience designing APIs and service integrations
• Understanding of authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth, OIDC, RBAC)

• Experience with continuous delivery, release management, and deployment strategies. - Familiarity with security practices such as vulnerability management and compliance. - Experience working with distributed systems and production operations. - Knowledge of agile development methodologies. - Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team growth. - Commitment to continuous learning and improving engineering practices. - Experience developing AI: Prompts, Plugins, MCP Servers, Claude - Experience with Backstage Portal: TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js - Experience with the Backstage scaffolding tool to automate the creation of new microservices and repositories. - Core Backstage / Platform Engineering Experience
• Experience implementing or operating a Backstage developer portal in production
• Experience building and maintaining custom Backstage plugins
• Strong understanding of the Backstage Software Catalog (domains, systems, components, APIs, groups, users)
• Experience designing golden paths and self-service developer workflows
• Familiarity with TechDocs, scaffolder templates, and catalog ingestion patterns
• Experience integrating Backstage with enterprise systems (GitHub, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, cloud platforms)

The pay range for this position is $102,300 to $147,050.

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and work location.

In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus plan and to receive restricted stock unit awards as part of total compensation.
