JPMorganChase is expanding its digital banking presence through Chase UK and broader international consumer banking initiatives.

The International Consumer Bank engineering teams work on fraud and financial crime prevention, identity services, money transfers, card payments, lending, onboarding, core banking, insurance, rewards, and servicing.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer III, you will help deliver an outstanding banking experience within the International Consumer Bank.

The role is part of a collaborative, diverse, geographically distributed engineering team focused on customer needs and new technology.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to end-to-end cloud-native microservices applications using current technologies and industry practices.
  • Use domain modeling techniques to build business products.
  • Structure software so it is understandable, testable, and easy to evolve.
  • Build scalable solutions that avoid single points of failure.
  • Develop secure code and protect systems from malicious actors.
  • Investigate issues, prevent recurrence, and support zero-downtime releases.
  • Optimize data access and monitor system performance.
  • Ensure systems are reliable and easy to operate.
  • Update technologies and patterns continuously.
  • Support products through production operations and incident management.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with applied experience.
  • Recent hands-on professional experience as a backend software engineer.
  • Experience coding in a recent version of Java.
  • Experience designing and implementing unit, component, integration, end-to-end, or performance tests.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies, distributed systems, RESTful APIs, web technologies, and relational data stores.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment or industry.
  • Knowledge of messaging frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native microservices architecture.
  • Understanding of AWS cloud technologies.
