The role focuses on building a HIPAA-compliant patient portal for the behavioral health market.
What you’ll be doing
- Design and implement backend systems for a HIPAA-compliant behavioral health patient portal.
- Own complex features end to end, from architecture through deployment.
- Contribute to system design decisions and raise the technical bar across the team.
- Integrate external EHR systems through asynchronous, event-driven pipelines.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
- Deliver frontend features in React when needed.
Required skills
- At least 5 years of experience building production applications with Python/Django or similar stacks.
- Strong systems thinking across distributed state, failure modes, and long-term design tradeoffs.
- Deep SQL and data modeling skills, including migrations, query optimization, and schema design.
- Experience with asynchronous workflows, event-driven architecture, and message queues.
- Proficiency with AWS Lambda, SQS, SNS, or comparable services.
