Software Engineer II

Position Overview

Team and Location

• The team is described as fully remote and works across India.
• The position supports a diverse engineering team building education products for students and educators.

What You Will Do

• Own frontend features end to end, including architecture, implementation, testing, staged rollout, and production monitoring.
• Translate product requirements into component architecture, GraphQL boundaries, and client-state contracts.
• Debug GraphQL, authentication, session, and server-client rendering issues across the stack.
• Build AI-powered learning features with validated model output, graceful fallbacks, and telemetry.
• Apply security and data-protection practices such as input validation and secure authentication handling.
• Optimize rendering strategy, bundle size, and Core Web Vitals as part of feature work.
• Own change quality through unit, component, end-to-end, CI, and production validation.
• Partner with Product, Design, Backend, and Content Operations on learner and educator workflows.
• Contribute through code reviews, reusable patterns, shared components, and documentation.
• Ship end-to-end changes across the web application and supporting APIs or schemas.

Required Qualifications

• Most qualified candidates will bring 4 or more years of professional frontend engineering experience with production web applications.
• Strong hands-on React and Next.js experience with comfort in TypeScript is required.
• Working knowledge of web security, performance, and accessibility fundamentals is required.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, WebSockets, and a modern client-state approach is required.
• Testing and release-validation experience with unit, component, and end-to-end testing is required.
• Responsible use of AI-assisted development tools is required.
• A practical understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CSS-in-JS and a component library such as MUI is preferred.
• AWS infrastructure knowledge and some Node.js backend exposure are preferred.
• Experience with Auth0 or a similar authentication provider is preferred.
• Experience shipping AI-powered user interfaces is preferred.
• Experience contributing to shared component libraries or tooling is preferred.
• Familiarity with frontend observability tools such as New Relic is preferred.
• Experience in EdTech, e-commerce, or another consumer-facing product company is preferred.

Technology Stack

• Frontend technologies include React, Next.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, React Query, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, styled-components, and MUI.
• Backend foundations include Node.js and AWS, with services also using Kotlin or Java with Spring and Python with FastAPI or Django.
• Testing tools include Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright, and MSW.
• Authentication and delivery tools include Auth0 and GitLab CI.
• Observability uses New Relic, while AI and machine learning integrations include OpenAI and AWS Bedrock.
