Job Description
The Software Engineer I role designs, develops, and maintains end-to-end backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Python, and RESTful APIs.
The position is part of TD's Technology Solutions line of business and is based in Toronto, Ontario.
The role supports scalable, secure, maintainable applications and services across the technology stack.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver scalable applications and services while aligning with engineering standards and business goals.
- Develop features, perform unit and component testing, and integrate backend and API solutions.
- Deploy solutions to Microsoft Azure and integrate EDP pipelines and automation tooling.
- Provide incident support, troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis across the stack.
- Document APIs, infrastructure, business logic, system components, and technical specifications.
- Prototype new technologies and recommend automation, testing, deployment, and efficiency improvements.
- Participate in code reviews and monitor service performance, productivity, security, and operational readiness.
- Manage risks, resource assignments, project milestones, and compliance with policies and standards.
- Mentor junior developers, share knowledge, support cross-training, and foster collaborative team development.
