Join Fitch Ratings' global Ratings Technology team in Toronto as a Software Engineer, Full-Stack Applications, Associate Director.
Build and enhance mission-critical applications supporting analyst workflows, analytics, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Python, React, and modern software practices.
- Build scalable backend services and APIs for business-critical workflows and data-driven applications.
- Develop responsive frontend experiences using React, TypeScript, and modern web technologies.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders on requirements and technical solutions.
- Contribute to architecture and technical design for scalability, maintainability, security, and performance.
- Promote engineering excellence through reviews, testing, documentation, CI/CD, and software best practices.
- Explore and implement AI-powered capabilities that improve business value, user experience, or operational efficiency.
Required Experience
- 12 or more years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise-grade applications.
- 12 or more years of hands-on Python development experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on React experience in production environments.
- Strong TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, RESTful API, and third-party integration experience.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and scalable system architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
AI and Development Skills
- Experience or familiarity integrating AI capabilities and LLM APIs such as OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Anthropic, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, and responsible AI practices.
- Familiarity with Agile development and modern software delivery practices.
Preferred Experience
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation is advantageous.
- Apache Spark, dbt, Airflow, MLOps, observability, or data visualization experience is advantageous.
Workplace and Compensation
- The Toronto role offers hybrid flexibility and work from Fitch offices.
- Expected Toronto base pay is between 180,000 CAD and 200,000 CAD per year, with actual salary determined individually.
- Total compensation may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and benefits.
