Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable, reusable, testable code for scalable and resilient platform services.
• Identify and troubleshoot performance and code quality issues.
• Own engineering initiatives and promote continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with product managers, solution architects, security engineering, other engineers, and external partners.
• Participate in requirements, design, coding, test automation, and debugging.
• Perform code reviews and ensure coding best practices.

Required Experience

• Deep hands-on Kafka experience covering topic design, partitions, replication, retention, and consumer group behavior.
• Production Kafka operations experience, including tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.
• High proficiency with Unix/Linux platforms.
• Strong experience with Python, Docker, and Terraform or infrastructure as code.
• Experience with software architecture and high-performance, scalable distributed systems.
• Understanding of application architecture, networking, security, reliability, and scalability.
• Strong DevOps experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• 2–10 years of software engineering experience.

Additional Qualifications

• Managed Kafka service experience, such as AWS MSK, is helpful.
• Streaming or event-driven architecture experience beyond basic publish/subscribe is helpful.
• Kafka security, schema management, or Kafka Connect exposure is helpful.
• Redis, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, AWS cloud services, and managed services experience are helpful.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, networking, databases, servers, and storage is helpful.
