Role overview
Optum's software engineering roles cover the design, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance of software applications, products, and services.
The work includes analysis, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, research, maintenance, operations, delivery, and automation of common tasks.
Primary responsibilities
- Design and implement data models for solutions from high-level requirements.
- Build software with attention to quality, organizational efficiency, and customer needs.
- Comply with employment policies, procedures, directives, work locations, teams, shifts, and work arrangements.
Required qualifications
- A graduate degree or equivalent experience is required.
- At least 2 years of software development experience with microservices architecture and Spring Boot Java.
- Experience developing Java web applications with Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and web services.
- Experience with React and with SQL Server or Oracle, including complex joins and query tuning.
- Experience with Jenkins CI/CD, GitHub, Docker, Maven, design reviews, code reviews, and JUnit testing.
- Knowledge of multithreading, memory management, Java frameworks, object-oriented principles, design patterns, version control, and CI/CD.
