Role Overview
The Microsoft Turing team develops deep learning models, large language models, and conversational search experiences.
The team builds core systems behind Microsoft 365 Copilot and brings AI research into reliable enterprise-scale production systems.
Software engineers collaborate with applied scientists to design, build, and evolve production systems for AI experiences.
Engineering Responsibilities
- Use AI tools across the software development lifecycle and review AI-generated changes before release.
- Build extensible, maintainable, secure, and low-defect production features with minimal supervision.
- Review peer code and tests for coverage, standards, security risks, and compliance.
- Explore design options, author design documents, identify dependencies, and support performance, scalability, resiliency, and cost goals.
- Create test plans covering regressions, security invariants, negative cases, and coverage gaps.
- Automate build and deployment toward zero-touch delivery and follow safe deployment and rollback practices.
- Run feature-flag experiments and measure their impact.
- Serve as an on-call directly responsible individual and mitigate incidents within service-level agreements.
- Run retrospectives and improve telemetry, troubleshooting guides, and monitoring.
Technical Areas
- Projects may include container execution, image generation, Microsoft 365 Copilot orchestration and runtime systems.
- Projects may include multimodal, real-time, and agentic interactions and AI-driven computer and tool-use capabilities.
- The team works with large-scale deep learning and distributed training infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and at least 2 years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, or government security screening requirements.
- Successful completion of the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with at least 3 years of technical engineering experience is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of technical engineering experience is an alternative preferred qualification.
Workplace and Location
- The position is based in Bangalore and requires working in the office at least 3 days per week.
- Domestic relocation assistance is available.
