Role Overview
Tesco's Behavioural Data Platform captures and processes behavioural data from web, mobile, and in-store systems.
The platform enables real-time data access and personalised customer experiences at large scale.
Tesco is hiring a Software Development Engineer II for a collaborative, self-organising team.
Responsibilities
- Develop backend event-driven platform features using Java and Spring Boot.
- Pair with senior engineers to design, implement, test, and ship code.
- Use observability tools such as New Relic and Splunk to monitor live systems.
- Participate in planning sessions and contribute ideas during team discussions.
- Write automated test suites and participate in code reviews.
- Develop understanding of distributed systems, large-scale data processing, and performance optimisation.
- Create, maintain, and deploy applications through CI/CD pipelines.
- Gain hands-on experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, and distributed services.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Java and an interest in backend development.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming principles.
- Practical experience building event-driven services and/or REST APIs.
