Position Summary
The Software Business Analyst serves as the bridge between business stakeholders and the software engineering team. This person gathers and analyzes software requirements, translates them into clear functional specifications and user stories, and guides those requirements through an Agile/Scrum development process from intake to delivery. Success in this role requires strong facilitation and communication skills, comfort interviewing and presenting to stakeholders at all levels, and the analytical rigor to turn ambiguous business needs into requirements engineers can build from.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit and document software requirements from internal stakeholders, customers, and subject matter experts.
- Translate business needs into clear, well-structured functional specifications for the engineering team.
- Plan and conduct stakeholder interviews and requirements workshops to uncover business needs, pain points, and success criteria.
- Prepare and deliver presentations of requirements, findings, and proposed solutions to stakeholders and leadership.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Partner closely with software engineers and QA throughout the development lifecycle to clarify requirements, answer questions, and validate that delivered functionality meets intent.
