Role description
The Smart Home Technical Project Engineer is responsible for the technical execution of smart home projects.
The role includes understanding projects, guiding installation teams, configuring systems, solving technical problems, testing, commissioning, and ensuring installations meet requirements.
The position may involve managing more than one active project at a time.
Work responsibilities
- Understand project requirements, drawings, equipment lists, and system designs before installation.
- Plan technical execution and guide electricians and installation teams.
- Check installations and identify problems before they become difficult or expensive to correct.
- Configure smart home devices, controllers, sensors, lighting, climate, security, access, and networking systems.
- Test, commission, troubleshoot, and resolve integration issues.
- Visit project sites across Dubai to check progress and provide technical guidance.
- Coordinate technical requirements with customers, contractors, designers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Research and test solutions for unfamiliar requirements.
- Maintain configuration and project documentation.
- Ensure systems are tested and ready before handover.
Qualifications and skills
- Strong technical aptitude and analytical problem-solving ability.
- Smart home, home automation, electrical, networking, IoT, CCTV, access control, AV, or BMS experience is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of electrical and low-voltage systems and safe installation practices.
- Good understanding of IP networking, LAN, Wi-Fi, IP addressing, routers, switches, and connected devices.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and construction plans.
- Ability to configure software, apps, devices, controllers, and network-connected systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically.
- Good communication and organization skills across multiple active projects.
- Regular travel between project sites across Dubai is required.
- A valid UAE driving licence is strongly preferred.
- Experience with KNX, Zigbee, Wi-Fi smart home systems, or other automation platforms is beneficial.
- A relevant diploma, degree, or practical background is beneficial, while strong practical experience is equally important.
Working arrangement
- This is a full-time role based in Dubai.
- The position is primarily site-based and project-based, with some work possible remotely when site presence is not required.
