Role overview

MinIO is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance, optimize, validate, and automate its cloud-native storage platform.

The role combines DevOps and software engineering to deliver high-performance, scalable, durable, and secure data storage and retrieval.

The engineer will work closely with customers and a team of engineers focused on distributed storage performance and reliability.

What you will do

  • Enhance, optimize, validate, and automate core MinIO software for performance, scalability, and security.
  • Help build and deliver high-performance distributed storage solutions focused on cloud-native architectures.
  • Validate MinIO software against customer environments and requirements to reduce deployment surprises.
  • Improve features, fix critical issues, and contribute to open-source repositories.
  • Refine architecture, APIs, and integrations with other engineers.
  • Write efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Conduct performance benchmarking and debug complex storage environments.
  • Address customer issues and manage expectations.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience with DevOps, GitOps, automation, and testing frameworks.
  • Expertise in distributed systems, networking, or high-performance computing.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and microservices.
  • Strong proficiency in Go, or deep C, C++, or Rust experience with willingness to learn Go.
  • Deep understanding of storage systems, file systems, or databases.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and experience debugging large-scale applications.

Additional qualifications

  • Open-source project contributions are a plus.
  • Ability to work directly with customers to solve problems through product enhancement and automation.
  • Ownership, accountability, customer empathy, collaboration, and commitment to continuous learning are expected.
