Role overview

Responsibilities

• Contribute to problem management through evidence collection, timeline building, root-cause analysis, and action items.
• Build Python, Shell, and Ansible automation for health checks, data collection, and configuration validation.
• Participate in network-service incident management, including monitoring, triage, troubleshooting, mitigation, and escalation.
• Identify and reduce operational toil through systems engineering or application-code improvements.
• Troubleshoot routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers, proxies, SD-WAN, SDA, and software-defined networking.
• Use authorized AI capabilities for incident triage, troubleshooting, post-incident analysis, and reliability-risk identification.
• Apply SRE practices covering reliability, toil reduction, operational readiness, NFRs, and introductory FMEA.
• Support SRE best-practice adoption and complete the SRE Bar Raiser Program.

Required qualifications and skills

• Formal training or certification in site reliability concepts and at least 2 years of applied experience.
• Experience or strong exposure to network operations or engineering and incident and problem management.
• Hands-on Python and/or Shell automation and Ansible experience.
• Troubleshooting across routing and switching and at least one of firewalls, load balancers, or proxies.
• Working knowledge of authorized AI capabilities, output validation, and operational-data sensitivity.
• Ability to assess AI-assisted recommendations and apply controls for resiliency, security, and auditability.
• Experience maintaining cloud-based infrastructure.
• Familiarity with SRE concepts, observability, SLO alerting, telemetry, containers or common server operating systems, and CI/CD.

Preferred qualifications and skills

• Exposure to Cisco ACI or fabrics.
• CCNA or other vendor certifications.
• Experience in a financial institution environment.
