Role overview
Part-time Service Engineer role based in Dubai, providing field service for pumps and pumping systems.
The role covers commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, inspections, and breakdown support at customer sites.
The engineer must work independently and communicate directly with customers about technical findings and solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Attend customer sites in Dubai and other UAE locations when required.
- Supervise pump installation, start-up, testing, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, dismantle, inspect, assemble, and test pumps.
- Diagnose failures involving seals, bearings, shafts, couplings, alignment, impellers, vibration, cavitation, flow, pressure, and overheating.
- Record operating parameters and identify root causes with corrective and preventive recommendations.
- Identify spare parts and provide technical details for quotations.
- Prepare a professional service report after every site visit.
- Communicate with customers and the company about findings, progress, technical issues, and requirements.
- Follow company and customer HSE and site-safety requirements.
Required experience and qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in pump servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Strong practical experience with centrifugal pumps.
- Good knowledge of mechanical seals, bearings, shafts, impellers, couplings, alignment, lubrication, vibration, and rotating equipment.
- Experience with pump installation and commissioning at customer sites.
- Ability to read technical drawings, pump manuals, datasheets, and performance curves.
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
Mandatory requirements
- Valid UAE driving licence.
- Current residence in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE with easy access to Dubai.
- Ability to drive independently to customer sites throughout Dubai and other Emirates.
- Good spoken and written English.
- Professional customer communication and clear technical service-report writing.
- Availability for part-time and on-call service assignments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Working arrangement
- The position is part-time and on-call rather than a standard full-time office role.
- Assignments depend on customer requirements and may include commissioning, inspections, troubleshooting, breakdown calls, maintenance, and pump repairs.
- Assignments may be paid on a per-visit, per-day, or agreed part-time basis.
Preferred industry experience
- Experience with positive displacement, multistage, vertical, submersible, chemical, process, or other industrial pumps is advantageous.
- Experience in oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, water and wastewater, marine, power, district cooling, utilities, or general industrial applications is preferred.
